Edith May Tea Room
Open from 30th October, Friday-Sunday, 1030 to 1600. CLOSED FOR PRIVATE FUNCTION 13/14/15 NOVEMBER
Based in the old brickmakers dock in Lower Halstow, Kent, the Edith May Tea Room is how the barge now spends her winter months.
First opened in November 2009 to allow the local villagers to see the barge in the final stages of her restoration, the homemade cakes proved a delicious success and the Tea Room grew in popularity, becoming established in its own right.
When the barge lays up for the winter in October, she now seamlessly transforms from sea-going ship to cosy tea room. With the solid fuel stove roaring away, it is the perfect place to come and enjoy homemade food, relax and warm up with a selection of hot drinks.
As winter fades away, the arrival of spring heralds the return of the warmer weather and visitors to the Tea Room are welcome to enjoy the beautiful surroundings with a cream tea on deck.
The barge is moored in Lower Halstow Dock, at the end of Lapwing Drive (Postcode ME9 7DZ) and is located along the Saxon Shore Way, making her the perfect place to start or finish a walk along this most historic of shorelines. Wellies are very much welcomed on board!
A variety of lunches and cakes are served all day and one of the crew will be happy to show you around the barge and tell you a story or two of her colourful past…
We look forward to welcoming you aboard.
