The restoration of Edith May

7th October 1999 – Purchased ‘Edith May’.

1999 – 2000 Motored to Lower Halstow, ripping out of rotten lining and framing, clearing of rubbish.

December 2000 – Barge blocks installed in Dock

2001 – Reframing and some re-planking on starboard side

2002 – 2005 – Ripping out all cabins forward, re-framing/re-planking port side, removal and replacement of chine keelsons, some new floors and ceiling forward and aft, replacement of keel bolts, replacement of inwales. Shed constructed over barge.

2006 – Removed all decking, new deck beams, new bits, new apron and breasthook, refurbished windlass.

2007 – New covering boards/decks, renewed aft hatch, lining completed, port side outer wale re-planked, fit out begun.

2008 – Formation of bulkheads, new deck rails/saddle chock, main horse/fore horse fitted, hatch combings refurbished, new head ledges, deck caulked and pitched, deck winches and fittings replaced, outer planking renewed on starboard quarter.

2008-2009 – Finishing fit out and re-rerigging
