Following a misty morning, there was a light breeze (NE-E force 2-3) which was against the barges to the outer mark. There were cracking starts in all three classes, but the stand out performers were the Decima (1 second after the gun!), Reminder and Mirosa. Heading down river, four of the fleet managed to sample the muddy banks of the Medway, although fortunately none became stuck fast!
Once around the outer mark, the leaders of the Bowsprit (Edme) and Staysail (Reminder) consolidated their positions but there was a thrilling battle between the Phoenician and the Ethel Ada in the Coasting Class, with only a few feet between them all the way home. Phoenician gained the advantage on the last corner and came home 20 seconds ahead.

I’m liking the look of those tables for sale as well…can you make rocking chairs?
Hi – I am a fellow-blogger; I write the “Volunteer Views” on the Cambria website. Do you happen to know the full results of the Medway Match? Watching from Garrison Point I saw Edme overhaul Reminder to re-enter the river, but cannot find the results posted anywhere yet.. Nice blog, by the way. Are you OK with me linking to yours, or publicising it on “ours”?
Regards
Matt
Hello Matt,
I have posted the basic results for the Medway Match on this feed and the full results will be at http://www.medwaybargematch.co.uk shortly. I have also posted some pictures in the gallery to view.
We’d be happy for you to link the sites, I understand progress is rapid on the Cambria?
Thanks for that. I will look forward to results soon. Yes, Progress on Cambria is very good, with hull almost complete and the team starting to get stuck into metal fittings, tabernacles, masts and leeboards. Follow progress on the Volunteer Views blog and in the official news tabs of the Cambria Trust site.
Regards
Matt
